Terror in U.S.

It would be easy for me to write something about how U.S. foreign policy led to the level of hatred which prompted those responsible for September 11th's murder of around 6,000 innocent people.

Easy, but John Pilger and Robert Fisk have already done that far better than I ever could!

What I worry about now is the prospect of war, and the more than distinct possibility of further innocent civilian casualties - this time Afghans and Iraqis.

The only thing that will really help is a redistribution of global resources and a move away from defence expenditure as the answer to the world's ills. Bombs don't feed the hungry or clothe the naked. They don't bring peace to already war-torn lands. They kill people - soldiers, nurses, teachers, cripples, children... bombs don't care. They can be aimed, certainly, but once they're launched they can rarely be stopped.

Rather like George W. they are difficult to stop once they're committed to a course of action.

My sympathies are with everyone affected by the attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. The waste of life appalls me. I hate the way that grief is being exploited around the world to justify further killing. I keep repeating the though 'Make it stop, make it STOP!' It's a simple mantra, and apparently futile too.

I will be there at the vigils in Fife, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

I will make my mantra public.

Will you join me and others as we call for peace?
